LOCATION / SITE INFORMATION

Private / secluded acreage is located approx. 10 minutes southeast of Edmonton.  There are no neighbors, 5 acres and approx. 50% is cleared.  There is wildlife around (deer, moose, birds, rabbits and whatever else happens to walk through).  On the cleared area and even in the trees, there is abundant space for tents to be pitched.  For trailers/campers/motorhomes we will have to reserve those spots as they are limited.

There will be 2 hot tubs running for the weekend and these are located on the south side of the house.  Large fire pit area, an outdoor dungeon with lights for night playing, and the deck area is used for stage area, morning and evening coffee and meal service.  There are trees throughout the property which means a dungeon is not always needed.  Ensure you have a flashlight with you, as there is minimal lighting where the tents are set up, and it is better to be safe then sorry.  The house is off limits except for emergencies / first aid and any type of group food preparation.

A map to the location will be supplied to paid registrants only.

HOT TUB AREAS

Hot tubs are open 24 hours / day and these are bathing suit optional.
Hot tubs will be serviced / cleaned every morning to ensure that the water is safe for everyone's enjoyment. As in the practice of BDSM, all activities are consensual – we ask of that in the Hot Tubs as well. Please do not make others uncomfortable in the Hot Tubs.

FIRES

Open fires will only be allowed at the main fire pit area.  This fire can be used by anyone at any time, as there is abundant supply of firewood, it is best not to let the fire die out, just "PUT ANOTHER LOG ON THE FIRE".

PICTURES

Personal cameras are not permitted at anytime.  Don Carlos will have a digital camera and if and when requested photos will be taken.  Pictures can be released to only the people in the picture.  If you request pictures, a CD will be burnt after Summrtreat and sent to you(sometime in September).  Any pictures that are posted on the website, are done with permission of the people/person in the picture.

NO CELL PHONE CAMERAS ALLOWED.

ALCOHOL / DRUGS

Alcohol can be consumed in your personal camping area only.  If you have been drinking, we  request that you refrain from being in or using any equipment in the dungeon area.  Drugs are not permitted at all throughout the weekend.

OUTDOOR DUNGEON

Have you every thought about playing in the great outdoors, typing someone to a tree, feeling the warmth of the sun on you while playing, slight breeze between the trees, hearing birds singing, and all this while you are playing.  Well this is a dungeon for you and yours.
Outdoor dungeon surrounded by trees, lighted for playing into the evening/dark.  A feeling of freedom while truly enjoying yourself.
In 2007 and 2008, we had almost 30 stations to play on, so not much waiting in line.  Equipment is for everyone's use and enjoyment.  Dungeon Monitors instructions/directions to be followed at all times.  Dungeon Monitors will be in the Dungeon during scheduled times.  There will be no Dungeon Monitors during dinner on each day or during the Dom/slave auction.  There will be complete dungeon rules available and posted on the site when you arrive.

CAMPING

Don Carlos and tori (Owners/hosts of Summrtreat) and Excaliburr want to welcome everyone
to this very informal event.  We hope that your experience is only a positive one over the
weekend.

We have put together this event for a fun informal weekend, we only want everyone
to enjoy themselves.

2010 will be year number 6 that we have been putting together this event for a fun informal weekend, we only want everyone to enjoy themselves.

When Summrtreat 2009 came to a close we were very pleased with the outcome.  As this being an outdoor event, the weather is something we are not able to control.  Yes we did have rain on and off throughout the weekend, but there was playing, fun throughout the whole weekend.  There were a lot of people in the hot tub, a lot around the campfire, and the pot luck supper was a feast for a "KING".

2008 was the first year for the Vendor’s Market and we do think this was a success.  There were many different types of things for sale, and will be an activity that will be done again.

For 2009 we want to thank everyone who lent a hand throughout the weekend to make things go nice and smooth for us.  It seems each year things get easier and easier.  In 2009 (5th year of Summrtreat) we had 150 people out for the weekend.

The mud wrestling was great, as it was mostly women wrestling, everyone truly enjoyed watching those naked bodies wrestling in the mud.  The top prize of the men was well worth the price of admission, and sorry – no splash zones will not be set up – you are on your own.

Not to mention the activity in the Dungeon.  Space was being utilized when ever the rain let up – even if just for an hour at a time – the dungeon was a storm of activity and such activity there was – even including the trampoline (now some might ask, what is with a trampoline in a dungeon – well the only way to know is to come out and see for yourself).

We had other things happen over the weekend, not scheduled – just to help peoples fantasies come true.

Pony play seems to be an addition that we are so glad that Summrtreat has been the event that it is being displayed at.  From new carts to such wonderful people – this is something we hope will always continue.

After Summrtreat 2008 was complete, we as organizers received a very nice surprise.

When we opened up and started reading the Fall 2008 Issue of the "Dominants View" we were so surprised to see a review posted on Summrtreat 2008.  We would like to thank Leather Prof for those words that he wrote, and we are so hoping that others can have the opportunity of joining us to experience some of what he did in 2008.

Below is the article that was written:

Nestled in the aspen parkland on the outskirts of Edmonton, the August long weekend sees the increasingly popular Summrtreat occur. Summrtreat is a camping weekend of kink, camaraderie, and laughter.

Hosted by Don Carlos and tori, the event is held in a wonderfully treed acreage so close to Edmonton, one could drive to 7-11 for a slurpee, but far enough away to guarantee privacy and spectacularly starlight skies. Add in the fact that the weekend long event only costs $20 and one gets a wide variety of amenities, Summrtreat is an event that should be penciled into many a kinky person’s calendar.

Attendees at Summrtreat have to bring their own gear (camping and kinky) and food, but the Summrtreat organizers have showers (ok… slightly bracing to take a shower), hot tubs, a fire pit, toilets and a dungeon. The dungeon area is expansive, offering a number of tables, spanking benches, suspension points, a cage, medical equipment and on and on. Notably a large trampoline decorates the centre of dungeon – who knew that topless subbie trampoline could be such a spectator sport? The dungeon was open from morning to night and the organizers brought in large klieg lights to ensure that night did not end the fun.

While most of the weekend is rather unstructured, a number of events are organized. Although food was generally the campers’ responsibility, they organizers did have a potluck night, as well as a night where they did serve a meal. All great ways of building sense of cohesion and camadarie of the community. Other organized events included the toy bag scavenger hunt, the whack-a-thon, mud wrestling, the vendor’s market and the Dom-sub auction. Participating in organized events won Summrtreat bucks which would allow for bids in the auction (although everyone had some Summrtreat money to bid with automatically).

The toy bag scavenger hunt was a fun ice-breaker, where each attendee was given a list of around 50 items commonly (and some uncommonly) found in toy bags. One could only get people to sign the scavenger list for two items, so it meant that people would have to range far and wide to find as many as they could. It did generate some creativity, such as one attendee, unable to find a ‘fucking machine’ found a male submissive, asked him if he fucked and when he got an affirmative answer said “well then sign since you’re a fucking machine”.

The whack-a-thon pitted the endurance of Doms against submissives. Submissives were to hold on with both hands to a line between trees – the Doms would circle around them, giving each submissive a swat on each cheek. If a submissive released the line, they were out (or if they were disqualified for safety reasons, such as any broken skin). Doms could drop out once their hands started throbbing too much. Needless to say the next morning there were many tender butts and hands. Submissives were pitted against each other in the mud pit later in the weekend, the winners being able to take on the Doms later. Although, like SeaWorld, the mud pit needs to have a ‘spray zone’ as much mud flew outside of the pit.

Several local vendors were on hand, offering an incredible variety of dildos, plugs, kinky jewelry, floggers, paddles and on and on. The Edmonton area clearly contains a number of creative and talented toy makers.

While Dom-sub auctions are a common feature of many BDSM events, I found this auction to be slightly unusual in the types of services/scenes that were on offer. While there were several of the spanky scenes offered, there seemed to be a lot of ‘wish fulfillment’ scenes, instructional offers and even a couple of service events (such as the 2 naked chefs who offered breakfast for 10). The ‘wish fulfillment’ scenes were often the desire of a submissive to try things like needle play, fire play, etc. in the safe environment that Summrtreat offered. But the event also saw many of the Dominants offer to share their expertise on various types of scene, such as pony play and body blows. Although instruction was not limited to auctioned occasions, but also many of the Edmonton community were generous with their skills and knowledge and shared tips, advice and techniques with many willing ‘students’.

There was also the opportunity for attendees to organize elaborate scenes. For me the two most memorable were the cowboys and Indians scene, and the girly-girl falls in the mud scene. Clearly the weekend offered the opportunity, in consultation with the organizers and DMs, to fulfill long-held fantasies.

While primarily attended by members of the Edmonton kink community, it draws attendees from all over Alberta and points further out. Judging by the groans and moans coming from many a tent (although the organizers thoughtfully provided ear plugs in everyone’s registration package), much fun was had by all.

My only criticisms would be the weather (although I have yet to meet the organizer who can control it), as it was a little cold at nights (probably my own damn fault for packing poorly) and that there was only one central campfire – although I can understand why the property owners wouldn’t want their property marred by multiple firepits.

All-in-all Summrtreat comes across as a fairly relaxing weekend, where one can lounge around and shoot the breeze with kinky folk, wander over to the dungeon and watch a wide variety of scenes, learn more about many different types of scene and then wander over to the hot tub to relax and to ‘ride the volcano’.

If you’re anywhere near Edmonton on the next August long weekend, look out for Summrtreat. You’ll be glad you did.

Thank you again Leather Prof, and we sure do hope that we get to see you again in 2009

The following is a review that was posted at www.theball.ca/forums and with permission we are reposting it here for everyone to see.  These were guests from out of town, and we are sure hoping to see them back in 2008.

"Review of Summrtreat 2007"

j, t and I were fortunate enough to attend Summrtreat on the Aug. long weekend in Edmonton. This was one of the best organized and most fun events we have ever attended. The hosts of this event are so great and welcoming; as they really make sure everyone has a great time. And the price of $20 for the whole weekend is well a bargain at the very least.

We actually arrived on the Wed. and got to pick our site for our tent. We chose a really great site that had views of the whole grounds and still kept us in touch with other attendees. We then did the tourist thing like shopping and exploring the site as well as getting to know some of the other early arrivals. Oh yes we also took advantage of the site amenities such as the campfire and the two hot tubs. I will warn you about the outdoor showers though as they give take a cold shower a whole new meaning. lol. Also the hot tubs are really cool with the main one having a feature called the Volcano. Right t and j!  Smiley Basically it has 3 speeds, low medium and who needs a man.

The outdoor dungeon is really special as well one of the best equipped I have ever seen. Complete with a hospital, and classroom, as well as things like pony play carts and lots of frames, benches and bondage apparatus. And hey if you don’t like the equipment there are plenty of trees to use as well. It is also very safe as they always had DM’s on site to make sure everyone was protected. It was kind of neat sitting around your tent and the campfire and hearing some rather unique sounds coming from the outdoor dungeon at night.

Fri. night was the registration and an informal get together. Where you got to meet lots of your fellow campers and attendees. Hot tubs were open and the bonfire was well attended. Sat. was a bit wet but everyone actually had a great time as we got to sit around the bonfire and hot tubs and get to know some of the people even better. We made some amazing friends that day. Also to the games began for people to raise Summrtreat bucks to bid on at the slave/Dom auction on Sunday. j was entered in the mud wrestling and actually came in second. she lost to another slave who by the way has had semi professional wrestling matches in Edmonton so she really put on a good match considering. And she raised lots of bucks for the Auction so I was proud of her.

Sunday brought lots of play in the dungeon in the afternoon and later the slave/Dom auction. This idea we are actually borrowing and will use it for a special WPG event we are planning in Jan. I basically brought a scene for t and j called the dance. 3 submissive females were chained together and one of the Local Dom’s did a little scene they call the dance. t, j and the other submissive certainly did do the dance and people enjoyed watching it as well. t made the mistake of forgetting to bring something I as her Master had asked her to bring so when asked what the trampoline was doing in the dungeon an idea for discipline quickly came to mind. As word spread around the event, t went on at 9pm in the dungeon for her big performance. she was made to strip naked and jump up and down on the trampoline while singing the Wheels on the Bus song complete with moves.  woot dance Everyone in the crowd loved it and again I was quite proud of my slave. Several shades of red later, I am sure she will in the future remember to bring what I ask her... right t!

Being in an outdoor dungeon I got to fire up my fire floggers. It was a great night for it and a crowd soon gathered to watch them in action. It went really well and the new ones j made me worked very well. People approached us and really were appreciative of the demonstration with the fire floggers. I was then asked to show others some fire play as well as some violet wand play so by the end of the night was very tired as were my two slaves. But I also got to watch some amazing scenes in the dungeon as well. I saw some amazing flogging techniques, pony play and other really cool stuff.

So all in all we are already signed up for next year’s event and have even talked to some of the participants about visiting us in Winnipeg. We are in contact with a few of them to bring some of their special skills to do some demos at WPG and the playroom in the upcoming months. So stay tuned for those workshops.

Sorry this is such a long post but there was such a lot to see and do. We all give this event 2 thumbs up and encourage anyone interested to talk to us if they are interested in going with us next year. We also will be posting some pictures of the event for those interested.
